Gotcha Covered


Come and join Terry Peattie in this fun workshop, Gotcha Covered, An Altered Art Journal Cover, where you will learn how to transform a blah Strathmore Visual Journal into an impressive work of art! Participants may bring their own journal or prepay for one from the shop. They will leave with an artistically altered journal (both front and back) and a handy storage envelope attached to the inside cover for assorted collage goodies or whatnots. This workshop is offered on Friday morning, October 9, and also on Saturday afternoon, October 10. Class fee is $30. There is a material fee of either $5 or $12 (depending on whether or not a journal is purchased). Registration is now open!.

Flea Market Tote


Join Liz Lazo in her fabulous workshop entitled Flea Market Tote and look at what you will be taking home! Liz will be transforming a canvas tote into a work of art as she demonstrates how to do photo transfers and use vintage finds. What a great gift for the upcoming holidays! Workshop fee is $30. Join Jeannette Runyon in her Upcycled Denim Utility Bin Workshop and see how you can transform the bottom of a jean's leg into an adorable denim bin or tote. This workshop is offered during Cootie Coo Craziness on Friday afternoon, October 9.

Sparkle!

Sparkle! Mixed Media Whimsical Gal. Participants get to sparkle and shine and they create one of these whimsical gals using paints, oil pastels, inks, metal pieces and more. Face templates provided or create your own doll face girl. This workshop is offered Friday, October 9, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm and again on Saturday, October 10, from 9:00am - 12:30pm. Workshop is $30 with a $7 material fee. How cool is this?

Faces: Seeking Inspriation

Cootie Coo Craziness with Terry Peattie. Using a painting or a photo as a reference picture, participants will explore drawing preliminary sketches before actually creating a mixed media painting. This workshop focuses mainly on the process involved in developing and improving one's style, techniques and drawing tips rather than on a "finished" product. Monday, October 12, either 9:00am - 12:30pm or 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Workshop: $30. No material fee.

Charmed I'm Sure: a mixed media charm necklace to Die for! Let Celeste Beck andMerri McKenzie put a spell on you to unlock your creativity that will help you focus on making twelve unique mixed media charms to create your own one-of-a-kind jewelry statements. Join Celeste Beck and Merri McKenzie as Goatfeathers Studio presents an Enchanted Mono Printing Workshop using a Magical Gelli* Art Plate on Sunday, October 11, from 9:00am - 12:30pm. Class is $30 and the required Kit (an 8x10 Gelli* Plate and medium sized brayer; bring your own or purchase one to become yours) is $35. Artsy Wood Crafting Box - Register Today!


Artsy Wood Crafting Box conducted by new Cootie Coo Creative Counselor Tina Collins. Come have a blast with Tina while making your very own artsy wooden box. Tina has prepared kits for making a wooden, slatted box that she designed (additional kits are for sale during class and Sunday evening, October 11, at the Art & Craft Sale/Relay for Life Fundraiser). Wood has been precut and predrilled, but participants will get to test their skills at sanding, hammering nails and screwing in screws. The boxes will be lightly sanded, painted (choice of one of 3 colors), assembled and then decorated or embellished. A fun project to make and personalize; the kit alone would also make a great gift. Workshop is offered Sunday afternoon (10/11) 2:00pm - 5:30pm and again on Monday afternoon (10/12). Class is $30 plus a $15 material fee.

Easy Pillow Cases with Melanie Page Jensen



Check out Melanie Page Jensen's Easy Pillowcase Workshop, which is offered during Craziness on Monday afternoon, October 12, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm. Melanie will be demonstrating how to easily make a unique and stunning pillowcase and she has prepared kits consisting of 3 pieces of fabric that when combined and sewn will set your heart a' dancing. The end result will have the finished look of a professionally made pillowcase. Workshop is $30. Material fee of $10 covers the cost of the Pillowcase Kit.

Cootie Coo Craziness Sneak Peek

Meet one of our new "Creative Counselors" for Craziness: Alexandra Huertas. Alexandra was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She, along with her husband and daughter, recently moved to the United States and now they now reside in Gainesville, Florida. For the past 5 years they have lived and worked abroad in countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Europe, the Bahamas and South America. She received her MBA in Barcelona, Spain. While living in these different countries, Alex has seen and learned many things about different methods and ideas of crafting. She began dabbling in home crafts 4 years ago and fell in love with scrapbooking. It is now her full time job and allows her to design and create many different creative designs. She is currently working on her website which will offer many types of scrapbooks and she will be expanding her business by offering classes locally in order to teach other people the fun and exciting art of scrapbooking. She believes that, "The designs and options are unlimited; all you have to do is add your own creativity to make something special and yours." Alexander will be teaching her "Skewer Bound Scrapbook Workshop" on Friday, October 9, from 2:00pm - 5:30pm and also on Monday, October 12, from 9:00am - 12:30pm. Craziness registration will begin on Tuesday, September 1st...and so the countdown begins.

2015 Cootie Coo Craziness Sneak Peek: Spools and Tools Basket Workshop

Meet Katie Avram, instructor for the Spools and Tools Basket workshop offered on Friday, October 9, at The Woman's Club in High Springs. Class fee is $30 and there is an additional $10 material fee. 

Katie grew up in an artistic and creative family and learned basket making from her parents. As an adult, basket making was among several of Katie's craft hobbies until she was asked about the basket she carried art supplies in to class. She began selling and teaching and has taught at craft and quilt hops; art centers; and state parks in Ohio, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee since the 1990s. Joe, on the other hand, had never woven a basket and had to promise to learn basket making in order for Katie to agree to marry him in 1999.

Sneak Peek: Art Dolls with Sue Monaghan

Here is another sneak peek at an upcoming workshop during Cootie Coo Craziness. This is a class taught by Sue Monaghan entitled "Art Dolls". This is an all-day class on Saturday, October 10. In the morning session, participants will draw and color their dolls (prisma pencils for shading and acrylic paint for the body). Sue will have templates for the dolls so no need to stress about artistic ability. In the afternoon session, participants will sew and stuff dolls (with the help of Sue's mom) and add whatever extra "bling" desired. 

Sue will have her printer so everyone can scan and print their dolls onto cloth. Participants get to keep their doll templates so they can make many more once they get home. Does this sound like fun or what??? This workshop is sure to fill up quickly so mark your calendars for September 1st, when registration for Craziness will open!!

Art Journaling Open to All -- August 30th

Next Sunday, August 30, we'll have journal class creating a spread (or two) that 
was done a couple of years ago, and may therefore be NEW to many of you!!  If 
you check your August calendar that Sharon emailed, there is a picture of the 
project attached. 

We will use Dylusions spray inks and stamps and have ingredients to finish 2 
spreads, although maybe only time to totally finish one spread.  One bonus page 
for homework! 

There are three seats still available in the class, so don't delay in calling to reserve your spot if you'd like to attend.
