Stunning Altered Book Box part 2

Catch a glimpse of the mini book, the making of which is the afternoon session of the Stunning Altered Book Box, on Friday, October 9. The mini book consists of two chipboard covers (front and back) with three embellished tags between them. What fun this little project will be! There is still room in both sessions of the workshop (morning and afternoon) if you want to give this baby a whirl!

Stunning Altered Book Box

Here is the project of the first of two sessions of the Stunning Altered Book Box.

A Graphic 45 Book Box with be adorned using the new Christmas Carol collection and other embellishments (both inside and out) and mounted on 4 claw feet. The second session involves making a mini book using three Kraft Cards and a binder ring (check tomorrow for the picture of that) that can be stored inside the box or given or kept as a separate gift.

This is an all-day workshop, but participants may opt to take just one session (the morning session adorns the box; the afternoon session crates the mini book), but the entire project will not be complete. The workshop is $30 per session, but there is just one material fee of $15.

Basic Weaving

Here is another fun Craziness workshop. Basic Weaving with Sheila Hiss. In this class, participants will complete a small weaving on a cardboard loom. This completed weaving can be a bookmark, a coaster, a mug wrap, an eyeglass case, a bracelet or an embellishment. Or participants can go bigger and make an iPad cover, a small purse, a phone carrier, a pillow, a placemat or...

Materials that can be used are yarn, string, fabric strips, reeds, twigs or plastic bags. Some of the techniques that will be covered include horizontal stripes, vertical stripes, fringe and tapestry techniques such as rya knots, slits and "hills and valleys".

There is a student supply list. Please ask for it when you register for this workshop.

Artsy Wood Crafting (Decorated Box)

Come have a blast with Tina while making your very own artsy wooden box. Tina has prepared kits for making a wooden, slatted box that she designed (Additional kits are for sale during class and Sunday evening at the Art & Craft Sale/Relay for Life Fundraiser). Wood has been precut and predrilled, but participants will get to test their skills at sanding, hammering nails and screwing in screws. The boxes will be lightly sanded, painted, assembled and then decorated or embellished. A fun project to make and personalize; the kit alone would also make a great gift.

Decorated / Gift Coasters

Another Craziness Workshop with Liz Lazo: Gift Coasters. Participants will learn how to embellish and personalize 2 sets of 4 tile coasters for a total of 8 coasters. Participants will cut and adhere various papers as well as available printed pictures (or bring your own 4x4 family photo prints to make the coasters more personal). These coaster sets make great holiday gifts for teachers, friends and/or family members. This workshop is offered Saturday morning, October 10, from 9:00am - 12:30pm.

Amazing Alcohol Inks

The Amazing Alcohol Inks workshop on Saturday, October 10, is overflowing (and closed), so an additional workshop is now being offered on Monday, October 12, from 2:00pm - 5:00pm (the Zentangle workshop was cancelled). Here is a picture of a few of the projects that are options during this fun, experimental class (creating backgrounds on glossy paper, creating ink drop designs on both glossy and Yupo paper, altering dominoes to create pendants, creating stunning metal embellishments and so on). There is a $10 material fee for this class, but it is worth every penny!

Divided Gift Box with 5 Cards and Interchangeable Sentiments

Join Louise for a fun-filled card class where participants will make 5 beautiful cards and a matching gift box to keep their cards well organized. This project is the perfect gift for someone special or simply to keep to store favorite homemade cards. The divided section of the gift box keeps the multiple interchangeable sentiments separate for ease in selecting the perfect card for the perfect occasion. Participants will use different stamping techniques in this class that will result in creative card designs. Participants will also learn how to modify the size of the gift box for future replications. The gift box is a pizza-style box and surprisingly easy to make, but unique and practical for storing cards or embellishments. Louise will provide written instructions for the gift box and will be offering a free gift to each participant! No material fee.
Cost: $30
