Cootie Coo Craziness Sneak Peek

Meet one of our new "Creative Counselors" for Craziness: Alexandra Huertas. Alexandra was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She, along with her husband and daughter, recently moved to the United States and now they now reside in Gainesville, Florida. For the past 5 years they have lived and worked abroad in countries such as Kyrgyzstan, Europe, the Bahamas and South America. She received her MBA in Barcelona, Spain. While living in these different countries, Alex has seen and learned many things about different methods and ideas of crafting. She began dabbling in home crafts 4 years ago and fell in love with scrapbooking. It is now her full time job and allows her to design and create many different creative designs. She is currently working on her website which will offer many types of scrapbooks and she will be expanding her business by offering classes locally in order to teach other people the fun and exciting art of scrapbooking. She believes that, "The designs and options are unlimited; all you have to do is add your own creativity to make something special and yours." Alexander will be teaching her "Skewer Bound Scrapbook Workshop" on Friday, October 9, from 2:00pm - 5:30pm and also on Monday, October 12, from 9:00am - 12:30pm. Craziness registration will begin on Tuesday, September 1st...and so the countdown begins.

2015 Cootie Coo Craziness Sneak Peek: Spools and Tools Basket Workshop

Meet Katie Avram, instructor for the Spools and Tools Basket workshop offered on Friday, October 9, at The Woman's Club in High Springs. Class fee is $30 and there is an additional $10 material fee.

Katie grew up in an artistic and creative family and learned basket making from her parents. As an adult, basket making was among several of Katie's craft hobbies until she was asked about the basket she carried art supplies in to class. She began selling and teaching and has taught at craft and quilt hops; art centers; and state parks in Ohio, Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee since the 1990s. Joe, on the other hand, had never woven a basket and had to promise to learn basket making in order for Katie to agree to marry him in 1999.

Mark your calendars...registration will open on September 1st.

Sneak Peek: Art Dolls with Sue Monaghan

Here is another sneak peek at an upcoming workshop during Cootie Coo Craziness. This is a class taught by Sue Monaghan entitled "Art Dolls". This is an all-day class on Saturday, October 10. In the morning session, participants will draw and color their dolls (prisma pencils for shading and acrylic paint for the body). Sue will have templates for the dolls so no need to stress about artistic ability. In the afternoon session, participants will sew and stuff dolls (with the help of Sue's mom) and add whatever extra "bling" desired.

Sue will have her printer so everyone can scan and print their dolls onto cloth. Participants get to keep their doll templates so they can make many more once they get home. Does this sound like fun or what??? This workshop is sure to fill up quickly so mark your calendars for September 1st, when registration for Craziness will open!!
